The firm is engaged in creating more sustainable, natural ways to make plastic products, with a focus on renewable and sustainable biopolymers which can be used to create plastic products that are biodegradable and compostable. The firm was established in 2004. The firm’s biopolymers are used to produce a wide array of products such as aqueous coatings, fibres, filaments, films, hot-melt adhesives, and injection-moulded articles. The technology produced by Danimer has led to a reduced dependency on petrochemical manufacturing and a range of plastic products that biodegrade in a much shorter time frame than regular plastic. The firm’s products include PHA-based resins and PLA-based resins made from dextrose sugar that is derived from corn, sugar beets and sugar cane, which are sold under the Nodax brand.
