Zhihu Inc is a Chinese company that operates a Q&A (question and answer) social networking platform. The company, which was established in 2011, is headquartered in Beijing, China, and as of March 2021 hosts more than 75 million users across the country. Zhihu was originally envisioned as a Q&A site, similar to US based platforms such as Quora and Yahoo Answers. These sites are primarily a platform where questions could be raised, shared and answered by the site’s users. The website, which is now one of the largest online content communities in China, focuses on long form and in-depth answers. It has attracted a diverse user base, including experts and industry professionals. The firm offers paid memberships with a range of features, which include lectures, courses, publications, podcasts and other exclusive member benefits. In March 2021, the company’s management team announced imminent plans to go public. Zhihu raised approximately $523 million via their initial public offering (IPO) after selling 55 million American Depositary Shares (ADS) priced at $9.50 each.
