The organisation that was to become the Franco-Nevada Corporation (FNV) was established in 1983. It was then named the Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation Limited and was launched with an initial capitalisation of $2m. In 2002 the original company was acquired by Newmont Mining for $2.5bn.
