Founded in 2011, Vivint Solar Inc. is a solar energy company serving over 20 states in the US. The company focuses primarily on residential properties, offering installation and maintenance of solar powered panels. Vivint Solar panels can be found in thousands of homes across the US, with the company one of the fastest-growing solar energy providers in the country. Vivint Solar partnered with Mercedes-Benz Energy to work on a venture involving home batteries. The company has also joined forces with ChargePoint to manufacture home charging stations for electric vehicles. Vivint Solar went public in 2014 on the NASDAQ exchange, traded under the ticker symbol, VSLR. 20.6 million shares were made available, helping the company raise $329.6 million. Vivint Solar planned to use some of the funds raised from the IPO to pay off its debts. Vivint Solar was sued by the Attorney General of New Mexico in 2018. The company was shockingly accused of fraud and racketeering, in addition to unfair business practices that involve clouding.
