Founded in 2008, Cloudera Inc. is an American software provider, specialising in analytics, data engineering, data warehousing, and machine learning. The company was formed by Amr Awadallah, Christophe Bisciglia and Jeff Hammerbacher, engineers from Google, Facebook and Yahoo. Cloudera offers five main products, in both cloud and on-premises variations. They are Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub, Cloudera Analytics DB, Cloudera Operational DB, Cloudera Data Science and Engineering, and Cloudera Essentials. Cloudera stock, listed as CLDR on the New York Stock Exchange, went public in 2017. The price per share of the company’s stock was $15, higher than the predicted $12-$14. The IPO helped Cloudera raise $225 million, higher than the $200 million that the company was looking to raise initially. If partnerships are an indicator of success, Cloudera can be considered a global leader in software development. The company joined forces with the Oracle Corporation in 2012 on a project called Oracle Big Data Appliance. One year later, Cloudera partnered with Dell. In 2013, Intel purchased an 18% stake in the company, valued at $740 million. Add CLDR to your watchlist to keep track of the stock’s performance.
