Founded in 2004 by Bill Woodruff, Phil Delansay, Ramin Farjadrad and Ramin Shirani, Aquantia Corp. is a high-speed transceiver manufacturer located in San Jose, California. The company’s initial product offering was for data centre connectivity but has since expanded to include integrated 10GBASE-T MAC/PHY and Multi-Gig Ethernet technology. Aquantia partnered with Cisco to create the NBASE-T Alliance, responsible for the 100G Ethernet technology standard that was approved by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Aquantia went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2017. Trading under the ticker symbol AQ, the company was able to raise $61.4 million. This amount was considered a disappointment, with underwriters initially pricing the value per share between $10-$12, with the eventual real value standing at just $9. In addition to its listing on the NYSE, AQ is also part of the Russell 2000 Component. Aquantia was purchased in 2019 by the semiconductor giant, Marvell Technology Group. Marvell stated that the acquisition of Aquantia was primarily to support its autonomous driving ambitions, along with support for its existing enterprise and data centre services. It’s time to diversify. Add AQ stock to your portfolio today.
