Founded in 2007, Sunrun Inc. has its headquarters in San Francisco, California. Sunrun's primarily offers its solar energy systems and products to residential homeowners for purchase or through a customer agreement. The company also sells solar energy systems and battery storage systems to some commercial developers for implementation in multi-family and new homes. Sunrun has over 600,000 customers across 22 states, DC, and Puerto Rico. Sunrun's stock is listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker RUN. In July 2020, Sunrun acquired Vivint Solar for $3.2bn. In May 2021, Sunrun announced partnering with Ford to serve as the preferred installer for Ford Intelligent Backup Power, which was released with the all-electric F-150 Lightning. Sunrun will install the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro and home integration system, which will allow the F-150 to serve as a home backup energy source during a power outage. Sunrun also offers Ford customers the opportunity to install a solar and battery system for their home, allowing the F-150 Lightning to be charged with solar power in addition to powering the household.
