CMC Markets was founded in 1989 and is focused on online retail trading and enables customers to trade financial instruments, spread betting (UK and Ireland only) and digital 100s. The company is headquartered in London and operates 14 different branches in various countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain and Sweden. In 2000, CMC Markets became a broker and a year later launched its online financial spread betting service. In 2010, the company launched its award-winning Next Generation platform, which gives clients access to over 10,000 global financial instruments via their desktop or mobile devices and to which it continues to add new tools, features and enhancements. In addition to its regular services, the Group now offers a stockbroking service in Australia. In 2017-2018, CMC Markets reported that the revenue per active client was up by 18% to £2,964.
