Lumentum Holdings Inc. is a telecommunications company that manufactures optical and photonic products for networking and commercial lasers. Lumentum is a result of the split of JDS Uniphase into two companies. It was founded in 2015 and manages the optical components and subsystems for the telecommunications market. Its headquarters are located in San Jose, California, and it provides communications equipment to customers worldwide through its subsidiaries. Its operations are divided into two segments: Optical Communications (OpComms), and Commercial Lasers (Lasers). Lumentum’s optical components and subsystems consist of a wide range of telecom, enterprise, and data centre networks. Its commercial lasers help make advanced technologies possible, such as next-generation 3D sensing capabilities. For its efforts in corporate social responsibility, Lumentum has been recognized in 2019 as one of Barron's Top 100 Most Sustainable Companies. In November 2021, Lumentum Holdings acquired NeoPhotonics Corporation, providing Lumentum with access to some of the fastest growing markets in cloud and telecom network infrastructure. Lumentum established itself as an independent, publicly traded company on 1 August 2015 and started trading on the NASDAQ under the ticker LITE on 4 August 2015.
