Founded in 1983, the company is based in Chicago, Illinois, and operates locally in the United States. Apart from its head office, Ventas also has offices in Kentucky and New York. The company manages its operations through three segments, namely Triple-Net Leased Properties, Senior Living Operations, and Office Operations. Ventas’ portfolio consists of senior housing, medical offices, outpatient facilities, health systems, post-acute care facilities, and university-based life science, research & innovation (R&I) real estate. The company works with healthcare providers, developers, and research, educational, and medical institutions, as well as innovators and healthcare organisations. Ventas leases its properties to unaffiliated tenants and manages them through third-party managers. As of September 2020, the company owns or manages an estimated 1,200 properties throughout the United States. Ventas is indexed on the S&P 500, making it one of the 500 largest companies listed on the NYSE, NASDAQ, and Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE).
