The Vanguard Real Estate ETF provides exposure to stocks of real estate investment trusts (REITs), companies that purchase office buildings, hotels, and other property. Managed by The Vanguard Group, Inc., this ETF was established in September 2004. The Vanguard Real Estate fund's key objective is to replicate the investment performance of the MSCI US Investable Market Real Estate 25/50 Index. This index includes stocks of large, mid-size, and small US companies within the real estate sector. In general, the fund invests all, or substantially all, of its assets in stocks for companies that are listed in the index, holding each stock in approximately the same proportion as its weighting in the index. This fund includes investments in the following sectors: specialized REITs, residential REITs, industrial REITs, retail REITs, and healthcare REITs, among others. This fund is non-diversified.
