CME Group Inc. is an American global markets company operating a group of diverse financial derivatives exchanges. The firm owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), and the Commodity Exchange (COMEX). The group can therefore trace its history to the start of the CME, which was originally launched in 1898 as The Chicago Butter and Egg Board. The Group is now headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with connections through 11 global hubs and relationships with 12 partner exchanges internationally, providing access to the group’s exchanges in around 150 countries. CME Group Inc. provides trading across a broad range of marketplaces, with the ability to trade in a wide range of asset classes, such as agricultural products, currencies, energy, interest rates, metals, stock indexes, and cryptocurrencies futures. The firm also offers tools and resources for traders, including a market news feed and a trading education portal. The group has regional offices in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York.
