BRILLIANCE CHINA (01114.HK), or Brilliance China Automotive Holding Limited to give the company its full name, is a Chinese auto manufacturer, headquartered in Shenyang and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Brilliance also has a dual listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the ticker CBA. The company’s core business is the design, development and manufacture of cars and minivans under the Brilliant brand. It also holds a 25% stake in BMW Brilliance, a joint venture set up with Germany’s BMW to manufacture its vehicles in China. Originally, BMW held a 50% stake in the JV with Brilliant owning 40.5% and theShenyang municipal government 9.5%. However, after China relaxed its rules on foreign majority ownership of companies in the country, in 2018, BMW announced its intention to increase its stake to 75%. The company also owns a majority stake in Shenyang Brilliance JinBei Automobile Co., which designs, develops and manufactures Jinbei brand minibuses. Jinbei and sister brandHuasong are owned byRenault Brilliance Jinbei Automotive Co., Ltd., a joint venture in which Brilliance China owns 51% and Renault 49%.
