This cryptocurrency pair measures the value of a single Ether (Ethereum) token in Bitcoin units. Ethereum is one of the world’s largest cryptocurrencies by market cap and its blockchain platform was the first large-scale project that enabled developers access to create their own decentralised apps, smart contracts and other blockchain applications. Bitcoin is the world’s first cryptocurrency and is considered to be the benchmark by which all other cryptocurrencies are measured. Volatility for ETH BTC can occur for various reasons. Development in blockchain technology, mainstream acceptance and many other factors could impact the Bitcoin chart or Ethereum price. One example could be when the Ethereum chart shows an upward trend following cooperation with a major tech brand. Another example is if Bitcoin is boosted by a mainstream financial institution launching a derivative, such as a Bitcoin futures contract.
