Coffee Arabica is a soft commodity that is consumed throughout the world in the form of coffee beans. Coffee beans are processed to become a brewed beverage. There are two forms of coffee plants, Arabica and Robusta, and the Arabica type refers to the variety of coffee plant that grows in subtropical and tropical regions, at both high and low altitudes. To begin the coffee production process, the seeds or beans of the Arabica plant are first harvested, washed and dried. After this, the seeds are dehulled and roasted. The beans are left whole or ground to a finer powder, before being packaged and shipped. Historians believe Arabica coffee plants were cultivated as early as the 15th century, when the wild coffee plant was brought from Ethiopia to Southern Arabia. The roasted Arabica bean can be used for both brewing and flavouring. While commonly a key ingredient in hot and cold drinks, Arabica coffee beans are also used in many sweet dishes. Coffee Arabica is a widely consumed good but not a necessity, so its price can be affected by the discretionary income rates of its consumers. Other elements that affect the price movements of Arabica coffee include global politics, climate factors and transportation costs. Arabica coffee dominates the market compared to Robusta coffee, which tends to have much lower trade rates. Add CoffeeArabica to your eToro watchlist to diversify your virtual portfolio.
