Square Inc. changed its corporate name to Block Inc. in December of 2021. The Square name will continue to apply to the company’s seller business, which provides an integrated ecosystem of commerce solutions, business software, and banking services for sellers. While Block Inc. will be the name for the company as a corporate entity, the seller business will now own the Square brand. The company, founded in 2009, is headquartered in San Francisco. The firm operates primarily as an online payments company that offers point-of-sale solutions, analytics and reporting tools, allowing businesses of all types and sizes to take payments easily. The Square software has been slowly expanded to include a wider and more comprehensive range of solutions, helping sellers with a range of tasks, such as selling online, managing inventory, booking appointments, engaging buyers, and hiring and paying staff. The firm’s products include Square Stand, Square Register, Square Magstripe Reader, Square Capital, and Cash App. Square supports sellers all around the globe, and is commonly used across the United States, as well as in Canada, the UK and Australia.
